Notes for Singular and Plural:
The regular plural form of nouns is made by simply
adding an “s” to the end of the
word.
But

Words that end with X, Z, S. SH and CH, add an es to the end
Example: dish – dishes
·
Words that end with a CONSONANT
+ Y, change the y to ies
Example: party
- parties
·
Words that end with a VOWEL + Y, simply add an s
Example: toy
– toys
If the form is singular, write the plural form. If
the form is plural, write the regular form.

- Words that end with o
–es, 有些则只是加
–s
Most words ending in o
preceding by a consonant is form into a plural by adding es
Examples: potato – potatoes; hero – heroes; volcano – volcanoes
Most nouns ending in o, preceded by a vowel, is formed into a plural by adding s
Examples: studio
– studios; portfolio (文件夹) – portfolios
- Words ending in –f or –fe
Life –lives; half – halves; wife – wives
- Irregular plural nouns
Man – men
Woman – women
Mouse – mice
Tooth – teeth
Child – children
Goose – geese
